The Chilliwack Beekeeping Community presents…
Sunday, November 23, 1:00-4:00pm @ Yarrow Community Hall
(Southside Meeting Room, 4670 Community St., Yarrow, B.C.)
Join us to listen and learn from a panel of experts share their beekeeping wisdom, experience, and helpful tips. In the beekeeping world there’ s a saying along the lines that “if you ask 3 beekeepers the same question, you’ll get 4 answers” so we’re in for a treat! We are thrilled to host our special guest speakers and Master Beekeepers:
Â
Scott Gordon, Natural Bee Apiaries, Maple Ridge, B.C.
Jerry Awram, Honeyview Farms, Chilliwack, B.C.
Lindsay Dault, Urban Bee Supplies, Delta B.C.
 (Read about our speakers below)
After the seminar, stay for a mix & mingle to connect with other beekeepers, sample local honey harvested this year, learn about community resources, browse items for sale, and enjoy refreshments provided.
*Table room will be provided for registered guests to display business cards, pamphlets, books, helpful resources, and small items for sale (bees & beekeeping theme/products only).
*Beekeepers are invited to compete in a ‘Honey Competition’ where all attendees will taste and vote for their favourite. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners will be announced and awarded.
This is the perfect time of year to learn about and prepare for next year’s beekeeping season – for those considering the practice in 2015. The seminar is also an excellent opportunity to brush up on your beekeeping skills and to answer some of those tough questions around keeping honeybees, for already experienced beekeepers. Finally, the expo is a great way to network your beekeeping business if you make & sell equipment locally, sell harvested products, or simply have a passion for bee-themed crafts or artwork.

Scott Gordon
Scott Gordon has been working in the beekeeping industry for 19 years. He has steadily expanded his profitable apiary to 300 hives. While there, he worked with David Yanke a Commercial Queen Breeder in New Zealand, who instructed him in the technical aspects of artificial insemination of queen bees. Scott has also worked with commercial beekeepers in New Zealand, the Fraser Valley and the interior of British Columbia. In addition to Scott’s experience in commercial beekeeping, he was employed by Natural Factors Laboratories to expand his knowledge of bees and their associated products. Most recently, Scott works in cooperation with the University of British Columbia to assist with a genetics research project and currently holds a position with the B.C. ministry of agriculture as a provincial bee inspector.
