Share Thanksgiving Hosts Flyer
Hello,
My name is Franny Varty and I’m contacting you on behalf of Share Thanksgiving Vancouver. Share Thanksgiving is a community-based project to connect newly arrived immigrant families with established Canadian families to share a Thanksgiving dinner and help build cross-cultural community across the country.
The reason that we’re reaching out to you is to help get the word out to Canadian host families and individuals about how they can sign up to host a newly arrived immigrant family or individual for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I think that the idea of sharing a good meal directly correlates to your goals of creating community as well as supporting local farms and environmental protection! It’s super simple and shouldn’t take up much of you or your staff’s time. In order to facilitate matching folks based on where they live, dietary restrictions, family composition (we say “family†but it’s open to everyone!), and other criteria, we’ve put together a website where hosts and guests can sign up which will automatically create the best matches
If you have time we would greatly appreciate it if you can spread the word to your networks. The website is at www.sharethanksgiving.ca and I’ve attached a poster for you to print off in order to help get the word out. We’re hoping to have families registered by September 29th so that we can do the matching and put folks in touch with one another before Thanksgiving itself arrives.
The website also has a bunch of additional information on how it works and what we’re hoping to accomplish, as well as a video highlighting some past experiences. I’d encourage you to check it out. If you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can do to support you getting the word out to your clients (additional outreach material, meeting in person to discuss, anything!), please don’t hesitate to get in touch by email or by phone. My number is (604) 655-1424.
Thank you very much and I look forward to keeping in touch!
Cheers,
Franny Varty
