Village Vancouver is pleased to present six neighbourhood Backyard Chickens 101 workshops with Jordan Maynard in June and July, and an encore screening of Mad City Chickens on June 18.

Learn about the proper care and keeping of small urban flocks of hens and meet neighbours who share your interest. This interactive session will help participants discover the ease of caring for small flocks and ally fears and animosity about backyard hens.

The workshops are offered on a pay as you can basis. Suggested donation is $10.

To register for the workshops: Ross @ rmoster@flash.net. Everyone is welcome, but registration is limited to 15-20 people per workshop. (We can accommodate up to 90 for Mad City Chickens.)

Cheers,

Ross Moster

Mad City Chickens: Coming to a Backyard Near You!

Friday, June 18, 7- 9 pm (by donation)
Mad City Chickens (79 min. film) is a sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical look at the people who keep urban chickens in their backyards. From chicken experts and authors to a rescued landfill hen or an inexperienced family that decides to take the poultry plunge– and even a mad scientist and giant hen taking to the streets — it’s a humourous and heartfelt trip through the world of of backyard chickendom.

Following the film, there will be a discussion, and Village Vancouver will talk about its’ neighbourhood Coop Co-op project and upcoming backyard chicken workshops.
