Planted: Vancouver’s New Food Network

I was hoping you might be interested to learn about “Planted,” a new food network serving the Lower Mainland. Like you, I care deeply about food security in our communities – which is why I co-founded Planted.
As you  know, the number of people who are hungry or malnourished in our communities is on the rise and equitable access to quality food is a growing problem. Food banks and soup kitchens struggle to meet the demand.

Along with dietitian Karen Giesbrecht, I created Planted as a platform for:

  • Learning, collaboration and support for sustainably-minded people
  • Innovative, “ahead of the curve” food security solutions in our community
  • Providing those in need with not just any food, but with fresh, nutritious meals
I hope that Planted can be a valuable tool for initiatives like the Strathcona Community Gardens, and the food security sector at large.

Take Part in the Conversation.

With Planted, we hope to create a vibrant and open discussion around issues of food security in our communities. We would like to keep you updated on upcoming events, workshops, new Planted projects, and the work of our partners.

If you have any questions, or are interested in learning about how to get involved, or how to become a partner with Planted, please reply to this email. We’d love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Bird
